The State of Connecticut is seeking a highly skilled Manager of Research and Planning to join our team. As a key member of our workforce development team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our state's workforce.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented individual to lead our research and planning efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research, analysis, and planning, with experience in managing teams and projects. If you are a motivated and detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis on workforce and educational policy topics
  • Lead data activities related to the OWS and Governor's Workforce Council (GWC) communications
  • Manage the GWC Committee on Data & Accountability
  • Oversee and mentor other data and research staff/contractors on the OWS team
  • Collaborate with agencies to gather, manage, or employ workforce or economic recovery data
Requirements
  • 9 years of professional experience in management analysis, systems analysis, planning, research or a related field
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of 15 semester hours equalling 1/2 year of experience to a maximum of 4 years for a Bachelor's degree
  • A Master's degree in research, statistics, economics or a closely related field may be substituted for 1 additional year of the General Experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing research for a state, municipal or federal government agency for workforce development
  • Experience working with longitudinal or integrated data systems
  • Experience developing standardized and repeatable procedures
  • Experience using data preparation and analysis software such as Microsoft Office, R, SAS (Statistical Analysis System) or Python
  • Experience using data visualization software such as Tableau or DataWrapper
