About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to join our Mechanical Behavior Team at RTX. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing novel material testing methods, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and solve complex technical problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to assess the mechanical properties of various material systems
  • Develop and implement novel test methods for specific testing requirements
  • Analyze collected data, annotate, and report results
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and subject matter experts to drive innovation and solve complex technical problems

Requirements:

  • PhD in Aerospace, Biomedical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering or related field, or MS degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience
  • Experience with test methods to assess the mechanical properties of various material systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with a track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, and initiative
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and in a multidisciplinary environment to accomplish project goals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with writing proposals for government-funded research and record of grants
  • Experience managing projects with emphasis on meeting scheduling and financial constraints as well as coordinating and aligning an interdisciplinary team
