The primary responsibilities of the Retail Operations Supervisor at Smart Foodservice Stores LLC include:

  • Overseeing and mentoring staff to ensure efficient and friendly service throughout the store.
  • Addressing employee performance issues through coaching and appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborating with management and HR on employee development and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Understanding the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and its impact on monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements.
  • Assisting in the budgeting process for the AOP and striving to meet sales and profit targets while managing inventory shrinkage.
  • Participating in the annual inventory process, including preparation and adherence to inventory guidelines.
  • Training front-end and other staff on necessary operational programs.
  • Supporting the Store Manager in maintaining compliance with company policies and ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for both staff and customers.
  • Conducting interviews, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Providing daily direction to floor employees, including scheduling and setting sales and shrinkage goals.
  • Planning in-store demonstrations, including setup and product sampling, while employing effective selling techniques.
  • Overseeing product receiving, handling returns of damaged or expired items, and ensuring timely restocking of shelves.
  • Maintaining merchandising standards within the store, including promotional displays and signage.
  • Communicating with staff regarding merchandising and marketing initiatives, ensuring proper execution and follow-up.

General operational responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing monthly performance reports to assess controllable expenses and overall store efficiency.
  • Addressing any discrepancies with company standards through action plans in collaboration with management.
  • Ensuring optimal employee scheduling to meet business needs.
  • Ensuring all employees are trained in emergency procedures.
  • Accepting special projects as assigned by management.
  • Adhering to and supporting all company policies and procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Training: A two-year college degree or equivalent experience is required, with a preference for degrees in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or Accounting/Finance.

Related Experience: A minimum of four years in a retail environment is required, including at least two years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong planning and organizational skills are essential. A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and building professional relationships is necessary. Candidates should possess critical thinking abilities, sound decision-making skills, and excellent leadership qualities. Effective communication and negotiation skills are crucial. Flexibility in scheduling, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, is required. Proficiency in computer applications and Microsoft programs is expected.

The compensation for this role is based on experience and geographic location, with the expected salary in California being $28.56. This position is also eligible for overtime.
