Job Overview

Norcon, Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a key member of our project management team, you will assist with all aspects of our projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing project subcontractor bid lists
  • Performing quantity takeoffs for all trades related to constructing a project
  • Obtaining bids from subcontractors
  • Preparing scope of work and reviewing with subcontractors
  • Reviewing submittals and generating RFI's
  • Generating and tracking QAQC lists
  • Assisting with preparing an estimate, project options, and clarifications
  • Assisting with preparing subcontract agreements and purchase orders
  • Assisting with preparing the Project Schedule
  • Collaborating with the project team to inform them of upcoming deadlines, tracking schedule progress, critical activities, or communicating any changes
  • Assisting with preparing pricing for change orders
  • Approving and coding subcontractor and vendor invoices
  • Reviewing and coding weekly field staff timesheets
  • Developing, distributing, and tracking all correspondence related to the project documents – drawings, sketches, specifications, addenda, bid RFI responses, submittals, etc.
  • Assisting with project closeout such as compiling O&M Manuals, distributing closeout letters, and tracking punch list items to completion
  • Generating OAC agendas with the project team
  • Assisting in BIM coordination (where applicable)
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements include:

  • General understanding related to managing a construction project quality, schedule, and budget
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with a desire to learn new systems
  • Experience using project management software
  • Ability to be a team player performing various production support tasks
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain client relationships

Education and experience requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years project support experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Construction industry experience or a related field is preferred

Additional requirements include:

  • Ability to travel to job sites and vendor locations
  • Be responsible and accountable for projects
  • Have strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Be strongly committed to safety
