Position Overview

The Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions Service Center in Norfolk is in search of an Ion Exchange Resin Technician. This role involves preparing resin, mobile equipment, and ion exchange resin tanks for customer service across various sectors. The technician will be responsible for regenerating ion exchange resin and media using a range of chemicals, safely handling substances such as acids, bases, and salts, and conducting quality control assessments on the equipment. A strong emphasis on safety and quality is essential in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Receive resin from client locations in tanks or mobile units, emptying them of exhausted media and preparing for regeneration.
  • Regenerate ion exchange resins and media using acids, bases, and other chemicals.
  • Conduct quality control checks on equipment to ensure compliance with specifications, including tests for pH, specific ions, resistivity, and TDS.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of bottles/tanks and other service equipment, including minor valve/PVC repairs, painting, and refurbishing as necessary.
  • Prepare resin tanks or mobile equipment by filling them with regenerated media.
  • Separate ion exchange resins as required.
  • Prioritize safety by wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, and safety shoes, as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar manufacturing environment involving chemical handling, or at least 1 year of experience in plumbing, pump, or mechanical repair.
  • This position requires physical stamina, including frequent lifting and bending, as well as the use of hand tools and manual manipulation of products/equipment.



Education & Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.



Preferred:

  • Knowledge of high school chemistry is highly desirable.



Working Conditions

  • Willingness to undertake occasional site assignments for troubleshooting, operation, and installation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working at heights, along with manual dexterity.
  • Capability to work in various environments, including industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities.
  • Willingness to travel for installation and repair as needed.
