Position Summary:

The Property Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of a designated portfolio of affordable housing properties. This collaborative position interacts with various departments to ensure precise financial reporting for each property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a caring and positive environment for employees and residents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Operations, Property Management, Finance, and Development.
  • Analyze and maintain the general ledger for accurate coding and cost allocation.
  • Prepare financial reports, including variance analyses for properties within the assigned portfolio.
  • Utilize Yardi software for accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to properties.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable for properties.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, analyses, budgeting, invoicing, and financial statements.
  • Manage government and investor reporting.
  • Review lease assets for proper depreciation and amortization.
  • Assist with post-closing proration adjustments.
  • Support special projects as needed.
  • Contribute to the annual financial audit process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior accounting experience in a real estate setting is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with accounting systems and processes.
  • Experience with Yardi software is desirable.
  • Customer service orientation with strong communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Controller and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits:

Christian Church Homes is committed to offering competitive wages. The hourly rate for this position is $32.64. The organization provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with an 8% employer contribution for retirement.
