Join Our Team as an Underground Utility Locator

Stake Center Locating is seeking both entry-level and seasoned Utility Locators/Field Technicians to identify underground utilities, troubleshoot issues, and accurately mark the ground using paint and flags, all while promoting safety and damage prevention in your area. We provide comprehensive on-the-job training, ensuring you acquire the essential skills necessary for success in this role. All you need is a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, a desire for independent work, and the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Utility Locator, you will be trained to:
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks.
  • Utilize a laptop to receive, document, and manage tickets and communications.
  • Interpret maps and blueprints to determine effective locating methods.
  • Employ provided equipment and technology to accurately identify underground utilities.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors, and homeowners.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2-3 times a week.
  • Capability to carry electronic locating equipment weighing up to 5 lbs for extended periods; ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs or more with assistance.
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screenings.
Schedule:
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as needed based on workload.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shifts.
