Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned General Counsel to join our team on a part-time basis, with the potential to transition to full-time in the second half of the year. As our General Counsel, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters across the organization, ensuring compliance with legal guidelines, and advising the executive team on potential legal risks and mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all legal matters, including contracts, licensing, patents, and intellectual property management.
  • Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program.
  • Advise the executive team on potential legal risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize agreements with partners, customers, suppliers, and employees.
  • Manage our intellectual property portfolio, including patent strategy and proprietary technology protection.
  • Provide expert guidance on FinTech regulations and laws.
  • Lead the legal aspects of financing rounds, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
  • Represent the company in any legal proceedings.
  • Build relationships with external counsel and manage their work.
  • Provide training to the company on legal topics.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Expert knowledge of corporate law, contract law, licensing, and patent law.
  • Experience working in the FinTech sector.
  • Background in working with or within start-ups.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand the company's business and anticipate potential issues.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to resolve issues and address complaints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, manage numerous projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
