POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Area Team Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective and timely implementation of all merchandising, operational, and human resource policies within a designated retail outlet, adhering to the standards and philosophy of Ocean State Job Lot. This position involves overseeing the entire store while focusing on specific areas of responsibility. The Area Team Leader is tasked with guiding, managing, and nurturing a team of sales associates within their assigned departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion the strategic vision of the store in alignment with OSJL leadership, driving profitability through effective leadership methodologies.
  • Enhance sales performance through the precise execution of company initiatives.
  • Oversee inventory management in designated areas by maintaining clear communication with Buyers and the Planning and Allocation Team.
  • Recruit, mentor, and train store associates within assigned departments.
  • Cultivate high-potential team members to build capacity and prepare for future leadership roles.
  • Ensure that store presentation meets company standards, including merchandising, maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • Adhere to company directives regarding operational, merchandising, and visual policies and procedures.
  • Monitor customer service levels to ensure they meet company and customer expectations.
  • Foster a stable and knowledgeable store team.
  • Manage freight flow, backroom organization, and timely freight processing.
  • Maintain a professional and effective working relationship with store leadership, associates, and field management.
  • Ensure the store operates effectively in the absence of the Store Team Leader.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in retail management or a comparable combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in the Google platform (e.g., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
