Position SummaryThe College and Career Counselor plays a crucial role within the KIPP Forward Match Team at KIPP King Collegiate High School. This position is tailored to assist students and their families in navigating their post-secondary journey, ensuring they are well-prepared to pursue their chosen pathways.
Key Responsibilities- Provide essential guidance and counseling support to students and families, helping them navigate the complexities of post-secondary education and career options.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager of College and Career Counseling and Seminar Teachers to implement initiatives that support student success.
- Design and facilitate programming that enhances students' understanding of college and career pathways.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with students to track their progress and assist with application and matriculation processes.
- Lead Family Meetings to offer personalized support and resources to students and their caregivers.
- Participate in IEP meetings, working collaboratively to ensure the needs of students and families are met effectively.
- Student-Centric Approach: A firm belief in the potential of all students to succeed in higher education, coupled with a commitment to fostering an inclusive community.
- Achievement Orientation: Proven track record of driving student success and managing performance effectively.
- Cultural Competence: Ability to create welcoming environments that honor diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Data Management: Proficient in analyzing data to inform program improvements and track student progress.
- Relationship Building: Skilled in cultivating strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, particularly Black and Brown students.
- At least two years of experience in college admissions or college match counseling.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, or Mandarin is a plus.
- Experience in project management.

- Possess strong content knowledge and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and families.
- Utilize technology effectively to enhance learning experiences.
- Hold a valid teaching credential and a degree from an accredited institution.
