Position Summary

The College and Career Counselor plays a crucial role within the KIPP Forward Match Team at KIPP King Collegiate High School. This position is tailored to assist students and their families in navigating their post-secondary journey, ensuring they are well-prepared to pursue their chosen pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide essential guidance and counseling support to students and families, helping them navigate the complexities of post-secondary education and career options.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of College and Career Counseling and Seminar Teachers to implement initiatives that support student success.
  • Design and facilitate programming that enhances students' understanding of college and career pathways.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with students to track their progress and assist with application and matriculation processes.
  • Lead Family Meetings to offer personalized support and resources to students and their caregivers.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, working collaboratively to ensure the needs of students and families are met effectively.

  • Relationship Building: Skilled in cultivating strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, particularly Black and Brown students.
  • At least two years of experience in college admissions or college match counseling.
  • Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Experience in project management.
