Avionics Fabrication Supervisor

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Avionics Fabrication Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Avionics Fabrication Team, ensuring the production of high-quality avionics components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement resource plans and profiles to optimize team performance
  • Interface with area managers to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications
  • Develop and implement cost reductions processes and efficiency improvement measures
  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop production-ready manufacturing approaches
  • Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people
  • Setup new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup
  • Forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedule
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years in a direct manufacturing position, working on aerospace programs or production lines heavily involving a range of manufacturing methods and techniques
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years with harsh environment cable harness assemblies including power, signal, fiber optic, and high data rate cables
  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in aerospace avionics/harnessing or related fields
  • Extremely customer-focused with strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Desired:
  • Strong background with respect to 5s and Six Sigma programs
  • Proficiency with resource-loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software
  • Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment
Physical Requirements:
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs
  • Ability to successfully pass vision test (not color blind, 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20)
  • Work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if/when necessary
