About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to join our Avionics Assembly team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Avionics Fabrication Team, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Develop and implement resource plans, authorize job descriptions, conduct interviews, make hiring recommendations, assign tasks, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling: Interface with area managers to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement: Develop and implement cost reductions processes and efficiency improvement measures.
  • Process Development and Implementation: Implement and refine new manufacturing processes, work with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
  • Training and Development: Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people.
  • Facilities and Equipment Management: Setup new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup.
  • Project Management: Assist with transition from development to production, forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedule.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Forge a vision of a better future, strategize on Blue Origin's direction, and motivate your team to achieve Blue Origin's overarching objectives.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a direct manufacturing position, working on aerospace programs or production lines heavily involving a range of manufacturing methods and techniques, in both leadership and hands-on roles.
  • Skills: Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures; ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Minimum of 5 years with harsh environment cable harness assemblies including power, signal, fiber optic, and high data rate cables; demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Export Control Regulations: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired Qualifications
  • LEAN and Six Sigma Expertise: Strong background with respect to 5s and Six Sigma programs.
  • Project Management: Proficiency with resource loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software.
  • Team-Based Lean Manufacturing Environment: Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Avionics Fabrication and Installation Processes: Familiar with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD.
  • Cleanroom Environment: Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
Physical Demands
  • Physical Ability: Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas; lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Vision Requirements: Ability to successfully pass vision test (not color blind, 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20).
  • Work Schedule: Work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if/when necessary.
