Position Overview:

The School of Business and Public Administration at the University of the District of Columbia is in search of a dedicated, full-time, tenure-track faculty member specializing in Finance or Accounting.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and instruction of a variety of finance and accounting courses within the School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA).

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a strong potential for teaching excellence, scholarly contributions, and community service, with the goal of enhancing a premier finance/accounting program through collaboration with SBPA faculty.

The ideal candidate should be an accomplished scholar who is passionate about engaging with students to meet their educational needs in finance or accounting.


Key Responsibilities:

The candidate must possess a PhD/DBA or be ABD (with completion by a specified timeframe) in finance, accounting, or a related discipline from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution.

U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required. Additional qualifications to teach in a related field will be considered an advantage.

Demonstrated potential for excellence in research relevant to the discipline, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals, is essential.

Applicants should have a proven ability to publish scholarly work in reputable journals and demonstrate effective teaching capabilities.

The candidate must fulfill the School's criteria to be classified as Scholarly Academic (SA) under AACSB standards, supporting the School's commitment to achieving and maintaining AACSB International accreditation.

All candidates must meet the AACSB standards for Scholarly Academics (SA).

A strong work ethic that fosters teamwork, creativity, and motivation in a dynamic environment is crucial.

For the rank of Assistant Professor, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • An appropriate terminal degree or agreement to complete this degree within a specified timeframe in the initial contract.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience, including two (2) years in higher education.
  • Relevant professional experience may substitute for limited formal teaching experience.

For the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate or equivalent credential in the field of specialization, or comparable experience and achievements.
  • A record of scholarly activity and professional development.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in higher education, including three (3) years as an Assistant Professor.
  • Relevant professional experience may substitute for limited formal teaching experience.
