Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a distinguished individual for the role of Professor of Practice in Finance. This position will focus on graduate-level education and will encompass responsibilities related to curriculum development and program enhancement. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver 9-12 credit hours of instruction each semester.
The primary teaching format will be in-person classes, although online instruction may be required occasionally. Additional responsibilities include serving on departmental committees, advising and mentoring students, and engaging in departmental and professional service as designated by the department head. This role is subject to annual renewal based on performance, and while it does not confer tenure, there is a pathway for promotion with the possibility of longer-term contracts.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess a background in teaching finance-related courses or have substantial experience in the finance sector. A Master’s degree in Business Administration or a Master of Science in Finance or a related discipline is mandatory. A commitment to teaching excellence, experience with diverse student populations, and strong communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Finance is highly desirable. Additionally, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and significant experience in teaching graduate-level courses or in leadership roles within a professional context are preferred.
