Position Summary

The Camp Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the camp staff by ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the camp facilities. The salary will be determined based on the applicant's experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish professional objectives for the summer that align with GSWNY's mission and camp goals.
  • Maintain the program center and trip gear room in an orderly fashion.
  • Assist with inventory management of camp supplies.
  • Support the management of lost and found items, as well as laundry for the infirmary and kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Camp Director or Store Manager to capture camp moments for the resident camp blog.
  • Provide assistance to unit counselors during daily activities.
  • Engage in all aspects of camp operations, including pre-camp preparations and post-camp activities.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques to address conflicts among campers when necessary.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor or health supervisor immediately.
  • Notify the supervisor of any suspected child abuse without delay.
  • Remain on the property during operational hours.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Camp Director or Camp Director.

  • Physical capability to lift 35 pounds and maintain constant supervision.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of campers.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability in various situations.
  • Participate in both structured and unstructured activities.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
Work Environment
  • Required to stay on the property during operational hours.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Willingness to adhere to the policies of Girl Scouts of Western New York Inc.
  • Minimum age requirement: 16 years.
  • Current certification in First Aid & CPR or willingness to complete training.
  • Completion of necessary background checks.
  • Desire to work with children in an outdoor setting.
  • Prior camp experience or completion of the CIT program is preferred.
  • Commitment to prioritize the needs of campers.
  • Good health and stamina for camp activities.
  • Flexibility regarding work hours.
  • Understanding that this position is at a resident camp.
Membership Requirement

All employees must maintain an active membership in Girl Scouts of Western New York, which must be renewed annually.
