Position SummaryThe Camp Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the camp staff by maintaining the organization and cleanliness of various camp areas. This position is vital for ensuring a smooth operation of camp activities and providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers.
Key Responsibilities- Establish professional objectives for the summer that align with the mission and goals of the organization.
- Maintain the program center and trip gear room in an orderly fashion.
- Assist with inventory management for program supplies.
- Support the management of lost and found items, as well as laundry for the infirmary and kitchen.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Camp Director and Store Manager to capture camp moments for the camp blog.
- Support unit counselors in facilitating daily activities.
- Engage in all aspects of camp, including pre-camp preparations and post-camp evaluations.
- Utilize behavior management techniques to resolve conflicts among campers as needed.
- Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor promptly.
- Notify the supervisor of any suspected child abuse immediately.
- Remain on-site during operational hours.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Camp Director or Camp Director.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional demeanor at all times.
- Passion for the organizational mission and ability to communicate it effectively.
- Commitment to diversity and ability to engage with a variety of populations.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

- Demonstrated enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability.
- Willingness to participate in both structured and unstructured activities.
- Ability to follow directions effectively.
- Required to stay on-site during operational hours.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Commitment to the policies and practices of Girl Scouts of Western New York.
- Minimum age requirement: 16 years.
- Current certification in First Aid & CPR or willingness to obtain certification.
- Completion of the CIT program or relevant camp experience is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize the needs of campers above personal preferences.
- Good health and stamina for camp activities.
- Flexibility with work hours, understanding the nature of overnight camp employment.
All employees must maintain active membership in Girl Scouts of Western New York, with renewal required annually.
