Position Summary

The Camp Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the camp staff by ensuring the cleanliness and organization of various camp facilities. The compensation will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish professional objectives for the summer that align with the mission and goals of GSWNY.
  • Maintain the program center and trip gear room in an orderly fashion.
  • Assist with inventory management for the program center.
  • Support the management of lost and found items, as well as laundry for the infirmary and kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Camp Director and/or Store Manager to capture engaging camp photos for the camp blog.
  • Provide assistance to unit counselors during daily activities.
  • Engage in all aspects of camp operations, including pre-camp and post-camp activities.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques to address conflicts among campers when necessary.
  • Promptly report incidents or accidents to the supervisor or health supervisor.
  • Immediately report any suspected child abuse to the supervisor.
  • Commit to staying on-site during operational hours.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Camp Director or Camp Director.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of campers.

  • Participate in both structured and unstructured activities.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
Work Environment
  • Must remain on-site during operational hours.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Willingness to adhere to the policies of Girl Scouts of Western New York Inc.
  • Minimum age requirement: 16 years.
  • Current certification in First Aid & CPR, or willingness to complete certification during training.
  • Completion of the CIT program or relevant camp experience is preferred.
  • Desire to prioritize the needs of campers above personal interests.
  • Good health and stamina for a camp environment.
  • Flexibility with work hours, understanding that this is a resident camp position.
Membership Requirement

All employees are required to maintain an active membership in Girl Scouts of Western New York, which must be renewed annually.
