Position Overview

The role of the Controls Engineer is pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring seamless integration of control systems within our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate hardware and software specifications for equipment vendors, taking charge of the overall controls package integration for new machinery and significant projects utilizing existing systems.
  • Provide training to maintenance personnel on equipment functionality and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Design and implement control hardware and software enhancements aimed at boosting equipment performance.
  • Modify process equipment control systems to maximize production efficiency while reducing downtime, focusing on cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop program modifications and enhancements for equipment controls in alignment with process improvements.
  • Uphold specification standards for both new and existing process equipment control systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive training across the plant for both new and existing process equipment control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair both new and existing process equipment control systems, creating tools and documentation to facilitate quick problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers as necessary to fulfill primary job functions.
  • Update control documents including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), AutoCAD drawings, and operational manuals related to the equipment.
  • Offer technical assistance across all production lines.
  • Engage in a collaborative environment to address engineering challenges.
Education and Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical certification.
  • 5-7 years of experience in controls engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Robot Programming, PLC Programming, and RSLogix 5000.
  • Experience with the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new process equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical components such as motors, power supplies, generators, and transformers.
  • Knowledge of process interface devices including proximity and limit switches, transducer relays, solenoids, and temperature/pressure indicators.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they relate to circuit and system logic.
  • Experience with computer hardware interfaces and PLC systems.
