Job Title: Controls Engineer

At Adient US LLC, we are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at our Warren, MI plant.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Controls Engineer to support our maintenance department in troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors. The successful candidate will maintain PLC documentation, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, and support various I/O devices connected to PLCs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the maintenance department in troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
  • Maintain PLC documentation, including receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, including devices, I/O, instruments, and all other components associated with automated processes.
  • Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, including HMI's, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.
  • Improve equipment uptime and contribute to Plant reliability maintenance.
  • Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on a set schedule.
  • Develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
  • Apply knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment to operation.
  • Implement and maintain data collection system from Plant floor processing equipment.
  • Identify and implement error-proofing requirements throughout the production process.
  • Participate in 8D or similar root-cause based problem solving tasks to ensure that abnormalities, when observed, are acted upon to resolve root-causes.
  • Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, including review and commentary on equipment controls drawings prior to build approval.
Requirements:
  • 5-7 years related Controls Engineering manufacturing experience; automotive experience preferred.
