Position Summary
Under supervision, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides essential nursing support and assists residents with daily living activities.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Licenses/Certification: Valid certification as a CNA in the state of employment.
- Experience: Six months of experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Responds to signal lights and bells to assess resident needs.
- Assists residents with personal grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair care, and incontinence care.
- Delivers food trays and aids residents during mealtime.
- Supports residents with range of motion exercises and movement to wheelchairs or activity areas.
- Helps residents with turning and positioning in bed.
- Assists residents with short-distance ambulation within the facility.
- Records vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, as directed.
- Completes other assigned tasks as necessary.
- Documents care provided as per facility policies.
- Participates in interdisciplinary meetings to contribute to resident care plans.
- Reports progress or lack thereof to the Charge Nurse or designated personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong communication skills to interact with residents, their families, and facility staff.
