Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at VCU Health. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide high-quality care to our residents, working under the direction of our nursing and rehab staff to maximize their physical functioning and emotional wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide restorative nursing care to residents, including activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and caring for their physical and emotional needs.
  • Act as an extender to nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, performing nursing and rehab procedures and resident care tasks within scope of competence and in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and resident-friendly environment of care, ensuring resident equipment and materials are kept in good repair.
  • Report any changes in condition or concerns regarding residents to licensed nurses and/or rehab therapists, seeking assistance as needed.
  • Participate in department and team projects as directed, performing duties within scope of certified nursing assistant role.
Requirements
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Previous experience providing activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and caring for the physical and emotional needs of patients.
  • Previous experience using a personnel computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in a long-term care setting.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, working three 12-hour shifts per week, with no rotating shifts. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and adapt to frequent change.
