Certified Medication Aide Job Description

We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our residents, staff, and their families at Pioneer Trace. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of care and function for our residents.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including oral, eye, ear, nasal, topical, and suppository medications.
  • Prepare and administer PRN medications with approval from the Charge Nurse.
  • Count controlled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Document medication administration and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining a clean and safe resident environment.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • State certification as a medication aide.
  • Registered with the registry board.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Ability to follow direction with minimal oversight.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and supplies/equipment used by the department.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to tactfully deal with facility personnel, residents, family members, visitors, etc.
