Job Summary:

The Area Sales Director is responsible for overseeing sales and marketing operations for a portfolio of hotels in partnership with the Director of Sales/Director of Sales & Marketing. This role aims to achieve optimal occupancy and revenue growth while meeting/exceeding hotel profit objectives.

This individual will oversee the operations of Sales Managers, including direct sales follow-up, sales administration, hiring, training, managing, and coaching. Additional responsibilities include assisting with sales and marketing budget forecasting, advertising, and business planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the division's annual budget and advertising, public relations, marketing, and sales plans and programs for the hotel.
  • Proactively conduct outside sales calls, conduct sales tours, and entertain clients.
  • Understand contract content and negotiate terms.
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
  • Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate trends within the market.
  • Adhere to Aimbridge Hospitality's established regulations, company standards, sales standards, and sales metrics.
  • Comply with attainment of individual goals as well as team goals and budgeted metrics.
  • Train hotel staff on recognizing and capitalizing on sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue.
  • Manage Human Resources in the division, including hiring, training, developing, empowering, coaching, and counseling staff.
  • Supervise the Catering & Event Management Team to ensure Catering, Food & Beverage, and Meeting Room rental budgets are met or exceeded.
  • Develop a working knowledge of hotel operations and policies, including Sales, Food and Beverage, Front Office, and Reservations.
  • Maintain strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations.
  • Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly meetings and other functions required by management.
  • Maintain professional working relationships and promote open lines of communication with marketing partners and internal departments.
  • Travel on a weekly basis as required.
  • Act as directed on behalf of the General Manager in their absence, performing other duties as requested by management.
