Patient Services Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at the University of Minnesota's Eye Clinic. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Welcoming and guiding patients and visitors through the clinic, ensuring a positive and efficient experience.
- Accurately and efficiently checking in patients, capturing registration information, and collecting co-pays or fees.
- Providing patients with necessary forms, questionnaires, and information about our services.
- Directing patients to the appropriate care area and ensuring a smooth transition of care.
- Resolving non-clinical patient issues and providing backup and coverage as needed.
- Communicating with patients about our services, including access to Urgent Care, Gopher Quick Clinic, and other areas of clinical services.
- Arranging accommodations or interpreter services as needed for patients.
- Answering telephone calls, responding to inquiries, and redirecting calls as necessary.
- Maintaining knowledge of appointment scheduling practices, policies, and procedures.
- Business college, office skills training, or university-level education, or a combination of related medical clerical/receptionist experience and education to total four years.
- Experience in a related health clinic clerical position.
- Experience with an electronic medical record system.
- Experience in a multicultural medical or social services setting.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions.
- Flexibility with assignments and ability to perform a wide variety of front desk functions.
- Previous experience working with projects involving data collection and patient relations.
- Strong skills and experience in insurance verification, data collection, and data capture in electronic medical records.
- Proven ability to learn job skills and provide patient services.
- Proven ability to accurately schedule appointments.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
