Position Overview

Under general supervision, this role is responsible for ensuring the proper upkeep of city-owned, private, and commercial properties by conducting inspections to verify compliance with municipal codes and regulations. The incumbent will perform skilled inspection duties, maintain awareness of City Codes, and enforce regulations when violations are identified.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the tasks performed in this role:
  • Conduct various inspections, including property, housing, and business licenses, through visual assessments or area walkthroughs.
  • Draft and issue Courtesy Notices, Notices of Violations, and Uniform Code Citations.
  • Address inquiries from the public, other municipal agencies, and contractors, providing technical and professional guidance.
  • Research and gather information from relevant documents such as Plat Maps, Site Plans, Surveys, and tax records.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments, including Fire, Police, and Building Departments, during inspections.
  • Perform damage assessments and prepare necessary documentation and photographic evidence.
  • Compile documentation for Code Board hearings and provide expert testimony as required.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; one year of experience in Code Enforcement or a related field such as law enforcement is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Special Requirements
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
