Automotive Sales Director

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving customer retention and profitability in our profit center by recruiting and managing a team of sales professionals. This role involves appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising vehicle inventory, as well as providing the vehicle department with a supply of marketable vehicles within the dealership's financial guidelines and purchasing policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Forecasts sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
- Hires, motivates, and monitors the performance of pre-owned vehicle sales employees.
- Prepares and administers an annual operating forecast and budget for the sales department.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting vehicle sales.
- Directs and schedules department employees, ensuring proper staffing at all times.
- Assists salespeople in setting aggressive yet realistic goals and objectives.
- Develops and implements a prospecting and sales control process with the CRC Department.
- Maintains vehicle inventory, analyzing sales history and local market trends to determine which vehicles to stock.
- Processes salesperson commission sheets daily and monitors payroll records.
- Conducts daily and weekly sales and sales training meetings.
- Establishes and enforces product-knowledge standards.
- Oversees sales efforts to enhance the dealership's image and customer satisfaction rating.
- Ensures 100% T.O. of each customer to the F&I department.
- Communicates daily with other sales managers regarding units needed for the vehicle inventory.
- Ensures salespeople are informed of new inventory and current advertising efforts.
- Develops and maintains outside sources for buying and selling vehicles.
- Enforces a 60-day vehicle inventory turn policy.
- Plans and controls the display of inventory.
- Establishes delivery procedures, including an introduction to the service department and scheduling of the first service appointment.
- Assists in developing advertising campaigns and other promotions.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
- Attends General Communication Meetings as requested.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- Previous automotive sales experience.
- A professional appearance and customer-oriented attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills; well organized and self-motivated.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing retail.
- Sitting: Remaining in the seated position.
- Standing: Stand for long periods of time.
- Walking: Be able to move around the facility and grounds.
- Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

- Far Vision: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
- Depth Perception: Three-dimensional vision.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Be able to work outside in weather and inside a climate-controlled environment.
