Significance of the Role

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse on 5 West, under general oversight, performs patient evaluations, engages in the formulation of care plans, and executes and assesses care based on the specific age and/or developmental requirements of patients.

Collaborates with other healthcare professionals in the provision of care. The employee will adhere to relevant policies and procedures regarding the management of supplies, medications, and equipment.

5 West is a 32-bed medical/surgical unit catering to a high-acuity patient demographic. The unit primarily addresses respiratory and infectious diseases, with a specialization in chronic ventilator-dependent patients and those with diabetes.

Essential Qualifications/Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse. Pediatric experience is preferred. Comprehensive understanding of patient care principles and equipment; familiarity with CHLA patient care policies and procedures.

Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of patient care; maintain composure and assist during crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally, and effectively, both verbally and in writing.


Educational Requirements/Licensure/Certification
BSN or ADN is required. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in California. Current American Heart Association CPR certification. Current American Heart Association PALS certification.

This is a Night Position from 7 PM to 7 AM

Compensation Information

USD $89, USD $154,284.00

CHLA values the contributions of each team member.

The final determination of a successful candidate's starting salary will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience relevant to the position.

The salary range provided for this role is generally applicable to candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements outlined in this job description.

Additional compensation may be available for candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
