Under the supervision of the Investigations Area Supervisor, the Investigative Officer I is tasked with executing criminal, civil, and administrative inquiries within the jurisdiction of GeorgiaGov.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct complex criminal and administrative inquiries for GeorgiaGov.
- Assist in enforcement actions of GeorgiaGov and associated boards.
- Implement relevant Georgia laws, policies, and board regulations.
- Examine alleged breaches of laws and regulations across various levels.
- Carry out meticulous investigations and compile detailed reports.
- Draft comprehensive reports on investigative outcomes and suggested measures.
- Evaluate records to identify links within evidence chains.
- Determine case issues and evidence necessities based on charge assessments.
- Engage with state, local, and federal entities on relevant cases.
- Collaborate with other authorities on tasks such as surveillance and research.
- Collect and authenticate evidence through interviews, observations, and record evaluations.
- Perform background investigations as required.
- Provide testimony in judicial proceedings.
- Maintain POST in-service training for certification.
- Statewide travel may be required.
- Execute assigned related tasks.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement or a related discipline is essential. Candidates must possess Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) (PBLE) certification in Georgia, a valid driver's license, and must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen with strong ethical standards.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree with three years of relevant experience, a bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience, or three years of directly related experience are acceptable. Alternatively, one year of equivalent experience at a lower level may be considered. Note: Some positions may necessitate a valid driver's license or eligibility for POST certification.
