The Deputy Sheriff is a vital role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the jurisdiction. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for serving the community, enforcing state and federal laws, and supervising a shift of Deputy Sheriffs in the absence of the Sergeant.
Key Responsibilities:- Patrol Officer Duties:
- Conducting patrols to identify and respond to criminal activity and emergencies.
- Responding to emergencies such as accidents, fires, and medical emergencies.
- Investigating crimes, collecting evidence, and filing reports.
- Making arrests and enforcing traffic laws.
- Engaging with the community through events, presentations, and building relationships.
- Providing assistance to other law enforcement agencies.
- Duties in Other Areas:
- Enforcing laws, protecting the public, and conducting investigations.
- Serving legal documents, executing evictions, and repossessions.
- Maintaining order in public spaces and providing support to other law enforcement agencies.
- Operating and maintaining law enforcement equipment.
- Community outreach and engagement, including mentoring and support of community youth.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Background investigation, physical agility test, and polygraph.
- Valid Georgia Driver's license.
- At least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, criminal and traffic laws, and department policies and procedures.
- Ability to notice and respond to potential threats, think critically, and solve problems.
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions.
