About the Role

The Tennessee Society of Association Executives is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the strategic, operational, and financial management of the association, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance the association's operations, member engagement, and community outreach.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Board of Directors, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Plan, organize, direct, and manage all administrative duties for programs, activities, and daily operations of the association.
  • Communicate essential operational aspects to the Board of Directors and execute all Board decisions as directed.
  • Develop and prepare the annual budget, provide quarterly updates, and manage financial records, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Oversee fundraising efforts, including sponsorships, grants, and membership dues, to support the association's growth and development.
  • Manage all official meetings of the Association, including monthly meetings, speaker arrangements, venue details, registration, attendance, minute-taking, and fee collection, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience.
  • Respond to member requests on a daily basis, fostering strong relationships and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Develop and implement programs and services that enhance member value and satisfaction, driving engagement and retention.
  • Assist in membership promotion and renewal programs, handling termination of delinquent members, and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new members.
  • Submit annual reporting documents to maintain legal association requirements at local, state, and national levels, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Work with the public relations committee, correspond with allied associations, maintain relationships with local, regional, and national golf organizations, and the media, promoting the association's mission and values.
  • Attend the GCSAA annual conference, organize and coordinate chapter dinner, and attend educational programs related to chapter management, staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
  • Provide security for all legal and historical files and documents, ensuring confidentiality and integrity.
  • Act as Secretary to the Georgia Allied Golf Group and work with lobbyists on governmental issues, advocating for the association's interests and values.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business administration, sports management, turf management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role within the golf course management industry or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful strategic planning and execution, with a focus on driving growth and development.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and fundraising experience, with a focus on transparency and accountability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and QuickBooks, with a focus on efficiency and productivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including members, Board of Directors, and external partners.
  • Experience working with a board of directors and managing a membership-based organization, with a focus on collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Knowledge of the golf course management industry and issues affecting golf course superintendents, with a focus on staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
