Overview
As a Practical Nursing Specialist, you will deliver essential nursing care and facilitate comprehensive medical and psychiatric services for clients at Oklahoma Mental Health Council dba Red Rock Behavioral Health Services. Your role is pivotal in ensuring clients receive consistent and effective care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough nursing evaluations to determine client needs and develop tailored care plans.
  • Provide treatment for both ongoing and urgent health issues, ensuring medical appropriateness for client admissions and continuous assessment during their stay.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists to address any changes in medical conditions and facilitate referrals to suitable care levels when necessary.
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate clinical documentation, observing and recording client responses to treatments.
  • Oversee the activities and responsibilities of Mental Health Assistants during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, engaging with other programs, agencies, and medical professionals as needed to support client welfare.
  • Document care in accordance with nursing standards, agency policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in daily assessments of clients' mental health status.
  • Perform a variety of professional nursing tasks under the guidance of a psychiatrist, including collecting laboratory samples and administering injectable and emergency medications.
  • Communicate with pharmacies regarding medication orders and related responsibilities.
  • Maintain core competencies in managing co-occurring disorders through ongoing education and skill application in treatment.
  • Conduct regular counts and documentation of locked PRN medications with the supervision of the registered nurse on duty.
  • Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay informed about agency policies and enhance professional development.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Support the development and facilitation of Care Plans for clients within the Red Rock Health Team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered LPN in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in physical assessment and the ability to manage medical emergencies is required.
  • Willingness to work various shifts.
  • Commitment to the mission of Oklahoma Mental Health Council dba Red Rock Behavioral Health Services.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in a similar role, familiarity with psychotropic medication administration, and knowledge of psychiatric nursing practices.
  • Certification in mental health nursing is preferred.
