Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse

Role Summary:
We are in search of a proficient and committed Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) to enhance our surgical department. The successful candidate will bring experience in cardiovascular surgical procedures, exceptional clinical abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a demanding environment. As a CVOR RN, your primary responsibilities will include delivering both direct and indirect patient care within the operating room, supporting the surgical team, and upholding the utmost standards of patient safety and care.
Core Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients before surgical interventions, examine medical histories, and prepare individuals for surgical operations.
- Support the surgical team during cardiovascular surgeries by ensuring a sterile environment, passing surgical instruments, and monitoring patient vital signs.
- Administer post-operative care, supervise patients in recovery, and implement effective pain management and recovery strategies.
- Serve as a patient advocate, prioritizing patient needs and safety throughout the surgical journey.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient data, surgical processes, and post-operative care in medical records.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, post-operative care, and recovery expectations.
- Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Open Heart (CVOR) RN in an Acute Care setting is required.
Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida or be eligible for licensure prior to commencement.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA Healthcare provider) are mandatory.
CNOR certification is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Capability to lift and transport patients or equipment as needed.
- Manual dexterity to manage surgical instruments and equipment effectively.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced surgical environment.
- Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
