Role Overview:
The Loan Processing Specialist is responsible for meticulously reviewing all consumer loan applications, including direct auto, personal loans, lines of credit, and credit card applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.


This role involves verifying that all supporting documents for direct and indirect loans are accurately submitted to facilitate adjustments and servicing of loans, all while adhering to established policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Prepare, research, and gather necessary documentation for approved loan applications to streamline processing and disbursement.

2. Communicate with members to obtain additional information or documents as required.

3. Scan and organize loan documents, contracts, and other essential paperwork.

4. Track, upload, and process necessary flood insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage.

5. Process and create payoffs for consumer loans.

6. Monitor and follow up on vehicle or vessel information through appropriate agencies to confirm proper lien filings.

7. Manage requests for Subordinations and Discharge of Mortgage.

8. Collaborate with branch staff and other departments to deliver excellent member service.

9. Achieve a minimum of 'Satisfactory' ratings on internal audits and examinations.

10. Support the credit union's mission by completing relevant tasks as assigned by management or colleagues.


Essential Qualifications:


Qualified candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred. A minimum of one to two years of experience in consumer loan processing or general lending is preferred. Required certifications include registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.


Additional qualifications include:

  • Understanding of loan application, approval, and processing procedures.
  • Familiarity with credit union loan policies and relevant regulations, including Truth in Lending, HMDA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and others.
  • Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient computer and software skills.
  • Strong independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Effective communication skills with members and external parties.
  • Ability to articulate clearly in both written and verbal forms.
  • Capability to manage multiple complex deadlines.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work with general supervision in daily activities.
