Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Development Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our fundraising and external affairs efforts, developing and implementing a comprehensive development strategy, and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic development plan to increase philanthropic revenue and expand our fundraising efforts.
  • Lead the development team and provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundation sponsors.
  • Develop and implement a public relations program to promote community understanding and support for our organization's objectives.
  • Assess our organization's fundraising potential and develop a multi-year fundraising and engagement strategy to achieve sustainable growth in contributions.
  • Direct corporate and foundation fundraising efforts, including grant research and writing, and oversight of the annual grants calendar.
  • Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to increase community awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to advance philanthropic conversations and solicit board participation in executing development plans.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior development position leading fundraising and external affairs efforts for a non-profit organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communication, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Proven track record of providing leadership and direction toward the achievement of improving fundraising year to year.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to marshal them to form and maintain strategic external partnerships.
  • Ability to create and implement an annual development plan and strategy.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently and to work as a member of the team.
