POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Materials Manager, the role entails providing essential support in sourcing raw materials. This position is pivotal in aiding the plant by identifying dependable suppliers, negotiating pricing based on material specifications, and participating in the evaluation process for incoming raw materials. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and sustain a commodity inventory strategy that aligns with the company's supply chain objectives to enhance value, quality, and delivery efficiency. This role requires a proactive approach, relying on experience and judgment to achieve goals with minimal oversight while demonstrating a commitment to the company's core values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identify and assess new supply sources based on competitiveness, capability, and business requirements.
  2. Lead the qualification process for new materials and suppliers in collaboration with Quality, R&D, and manufacturing teams.
  3. Conduct supplier evaluations and scorecard assessments with key suppliers.
  4. Prepare supplier spend reports and inventory level changes ahead of key supplier management meetings.
  5. Gather requirements from collaborative planning sessions or purchase requisitions.
  6. Formulate recommendations for purchase allocations from contract and spot suppliers.
  7. Engage with material suppliers to negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and other essential requirements.
  8. Generate purchase orders within the SAP/JDE system.
  9. Coordinate delivery schedules as necessary.
  10. Investigate and resolve quality-related issues as they arise.
  11. Research invoice discrepancies and provide pricing guidance to accounts payable.
  12. Assist in supplier rationalization and cost reduction initiatives within designated spending areas.
  13. Contribute to the development and implementation of improved procurement processes.
  14. Ensure compliance with all SOX requirements and established processes.
  15. Maintain professional and productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  16. Initiate and coordinate supply agreements with company counsel and suppliers.
  17. Manage and update pricing and adjustments for all key materials.
  18. Validate inventory levels to meet approved thresholds.
  19. Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure optimal freight rates for supply-related transportation.
  20. Monitor price indexes related to top categories and report findings to the executive team.
  21. Operate in a manner that adds value to the team.
  22. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing and inventory management.
  • Advanced education or relevant certifications are advantageous.
  • Proven ability to adhere to company values.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mathematical proficiency.
  • Successful track record in planning, executing, and managing material sourcing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present clearly and persuasively in various situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating effectively with management and diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems, with JDE experience being a plus.
