Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Programmer/Analyst II to join our team at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting research programming and analytic activities using administrative claims datasets and other supporting data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and extract relevant data sources, merge, transform, and manipulate dataset structure for optimal analytic structure.
  • Develop and implement statistical methods to structured data, ensuring consistent source code documentation and logical comments.
  • Communicate proactively with the research team on data/research method decisions, tracking agreements within technical documentation.
  • Participate in preparing written grant proposals, research reports, scientific presentations, and published articles.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in programming/analytics or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional experience with SAS, R, and STATA statistical software.
  • Experience with medical claims datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a research setting.
  • Two years of experience in a technical leadership or mentorship role.
  • Experience working with medical claims data in CMS's Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC).
  • Experience with Python, Java, or similar.
  • Knowledge of data mining and predictive analytics with machine learning.
