Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time Blood Collection Specialist to join our team. This role offers flexible hours and is ideal for those looking to complement a full-time position. The specialist will be responsible for the efficient collection and management of blood and urine samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify requisitions for blood and urine tests.
  • Adhere to laboratory protocols to accurately identify patients prior to specimen collection.
  • Perform blood draws through venipunctures and fingersticks, as well as collect urine samples.
  • Ensure specimen integrity by following departmental procedures and observing isolation protocols.
  • Label and document specimens accurately, preparing them for shipment.
  • Maintain daily records of collections and report any issues or deviations to the supervisor.
  • Uphold quality results by adhering to laboratory and clinical procedures.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory and office supplies necessary for the role.

Work Environment
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and adhering to safety protocols when handling specimens. Strict compliance with privacy regulations is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy (proof required upon hire).
  • Proficient in computer and technology use.
  • Ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Polite and engaging demeanor with patients and staff.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent speaking and hearing required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform bending, stretching, and stooping.
  • Visual acuity for close and computer vision tasks.
  • Dexterity for operating standard office and clinical equipment.
