Role Summary

The Accounting Analyst plays a vital role within the Finance 360 rotational team, ensuring that Project Teams receive exceptional support from the accounting department across all functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, and team-focused environment, serving as a key point of contact for Project Teams regarding all accounting and finance matters.

The Accounting Analyst position is designed to provide extensive exposure to our 14 distinct Accounting/Finance groups. Future roles may include Project Accountant, Contract Analyst, Project Finance Manager, Financial Analyst, or International Analyst. Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Accounting/Finance process workflows to serve as a Center of Excellence for Project Teams.
  • Grasp the intercompany and client billing process workflows, emphasizing the significance of timely and accurate billing documentation and its impact on cash management.
  • Utilize Data Analytics capabilities in Accounting/Finance to equip project teams with essential information for effective project management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the accounts payable process workflow and address payment or vendor issues as they arise.
  • Engage in both formal and informal training sessions for Project Team members on Accounting/Finance processes and systems.
  • Leverage broad Accounting/Finance expertise to support innovative special projects focused on process enhancement.
  • Analyze and interpret contracts to ascertain appropriate invoicing requirements and formats for complex or unique contracts.
  • Propose and implement billing solutions utilizing current technology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of existing systems and processes.
  • Oversee unbilled work in progress and manage the project status billing process for designated Global Practices or Regional Offices.
  • Collaborate with project teams and billing support staff to ensure seamless execution of assigned tasks.
  • Create process documentation for all client-specific invoicing requirements.
  • Conduct audits on projects with intricate invoicing requirements.
  • Assist Enterprise Account Management teams with Accounting/Finance needs to deliver top-tier service to Burns & McDonnell clients.
  • Support the Contract Analyst team during client-initiated audits on invoicing.
  • Assist the Contract Analyst and Financial Reporting teams with business planning requests from leadership.
  • Review Project Team's annual AP Accrual estimates for accuracy in accordance with accounting guidelines.
  • Build relationships with Project Teams and demonstrate a willingness to learn about the Burns & McDonnell project lifecycle.
  • Support miscellaneous project reviews.
  • Engage regularly with an assigned mentor as part of the Accounting Analyst professional development program.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, maintain a positive demeanor, and be willing to assist fellow team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is required.
  • Basic understanding of Accounting/GAAP principles.
  • Previous internship experience is preferred.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
  • Active involvement on campus or in the community is highly regarded.
  • A strong desire to learn, embrace new challenges, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other essential Excel functions is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects effectively.
  • Proficient in using various software tools, including models, spreadsheets, and databases, to perform analysis and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the capability to follow complex requests.
