LPN | Dermatology Specialist

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work collaboratively to provide direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory setting. The LPN will provide nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of the physician or Registered Nurse (RN), accepting delegation to meet the needs of the patient.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Visit Planning: Participate in pre-visit planning to ensure a smooth patient experience.
- Exam and Treatment Areas: Prepare examination and treatment areas according to clinic standards.
- Patient Rooming: Complete patient rooming procedures, including vital signs, data collection, and other identified components specific to the clinic setting.
- Medication Administration: Accurately administer and document medications in accordance with best practice and clinic policy.
- Nursing Procedures: Perform nursing procedures and treatments within the scope of responsibilities, according to nursing division and clinic-specific standards.
- Assessment and Intervention: Demonstrate the ability to accurately perform and document assessments, apply clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and implement changes to the plan of care in collaboration with RN/provider.
- Patient Education: Provide pre-approved patient education materials and reinforce health teaching and discharge instructions provided by RN/provider.
- Independent Nurse Visits: Complete independent nurse visits as allowed per scope and department policy, with appropriate supervision.
- Referrals and Authorizations: Assist in management of inbox and complete patient referrals/prior authorizations per policy and scope.
- Staff Development: Assist and actively participate in onboarding and mentoring of clinical staff per scope and as directed.
- Documentation: Ensure documentation in the patient record is accurate, clear, and concise within outlined scope of responsibilities.
- Education: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
- Certification: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
- Experience: 1+ years of healthcare experience preferred.
The LPN will be required to exert over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds occasionally, to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. The LPN will be required to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours, which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
