Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Vein Clinic plays a vital role in coordinating care for patients with venous conditions, collaborating with a team of three Cardiology physicians throughout the treatment process. This position requires close interaction with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Cardiovascular Sonographers, Wound Care specialists, RNs, fellow LPNs, and the scheduling and authorization teams.

This role demands critical thinking and prioritization skills to effectively schedule patients for venous procedures, manage phone triage, and follow up on post-procedure needs. It offers a balanced mix of care coordination and procedural responsibilities, including Laser Ablation, Radiofrequency Ablation, VenaSeal, Sclerotherapy, and Phlebectomy.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare examination and treatment areas according to clinic standards.
  • Engage in pre-visit planning and ensure readiness for patient care.
  • Conduct patient rooming procedures, including vital signs and data collection.
  • Administer and document medications following best practices and clinic policies.
  • Perform nursing procedures and treatments within defined responsibilities.
  • Accurately assess and document patient conditions, applying clinical interventions and evaluating outcomes in collaboration with RNs/providers.
  • Provide approved patient education materials and reinforce health teachings from RNs/providers.
  • Conduct independent nurse visits as permitted by scope and policy.
  • Assist in managing inbox communications and completing patient referrals and prior authorizations.
  • Participate in the onboarding and mentoring of clinical staff as directed.
  • Contribute positively to departmental development through participation in meetings and continuing education.
  • Ensure accurate and clear documentation in patient records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:

Required:
Education - Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
Certification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of healthcare experience.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves very heavy work, requiring the exertion of over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds occasionally. There may be exposure to radiation and frequent contact with contaminated needles and infectious materials. The ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12-hour shifts, is necessary.
