About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Employment Specialist to join our team at Goodwill Industries Southern New England Inc. As an Employment Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting adult individuals with disabilities and/or other challenges in achieving their social, vocational, and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the intake process for new referrals, including reviewing referral materials, conducting comprehensive intake interviews, and developing individualized service plans.
  • Implement individualized service plans and ensure employment readiness, including providing support with attire, transportation, and other essential needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, employers, family members, and other stakeholders to ensure access to necessary resources and supports.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate services and supports, including those necessary to meet personal care needs and individual goals.
  • Prepare for and participate in clinical team meetings and person-centered planning meetings, as required.
  • Empower individuals to maximize their input regarding services and supports, and facilitate self-advocacy activities.
  • Assist in the facilitation of training programs, including job seeking, job retention, and relevant life skills.
  • Review information about individuals to become familiar with their interests, aptitudes, abilities, personality characteristics, and special needs related to vocational planning and job development.
  • Assist in the development of professional resumes and ensure a specified number of job placements that match individual skills, needs, and vocational goals.
  • May conduct on-site job analyses, arrange and facilitate interviews with prospective employers, and train individuals to perform essential work tasks.
  • Ensure a safe and accessible work environment, act as a resource for employers regarding disability issues, and provide crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques as needed.
  • Provide required communication and documentation to meet agency, state, federal, and other pertinent standards and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field, plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license in good standing, with current registration and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to obtain approved certification in physical/psychological management training, CPR, and First Aid.
