Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks for Chapel Haven facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work. The Specialist ensures that facilities are consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition, operating various tools and equipment as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct minor repairs as needed, including plumbing, painting, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
  • Oversee general grounds maintenance as directed, including lawn care and snow removal.
  • Identify potential hazards or issues promptly and ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist in the upkeep of agency vehicles, including cleaning, maintenance, oil changes, and safety inspections.
  • Assemble, repair, and relocate furniture and fixtures as required.
  • Support Chapel Haven events, such as open houses and graduations, as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning systems; replace filters and report complex maintenance needs.
  • Inspect facilities and grounds for safety and security, reporting any hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards set by OSHA, CARF, DDS, Health Department, Building Department, and Fire Marshall.
  • Perform custodial tasks and manage inventory.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical, plumbing, or electrical work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills; proactive and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize and manage daily maintenance tasks.
  • Experience operating various equipment, including snow blowers and power tools.
  • Compassion and patience when working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Valid CT Driver's License and use of personal vehicle as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in physical activities, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
