Job Summary

The Produce Assistant is a key member of the grocery department team, responsible for assisting the Produce Manager in ensuring the successful operation and profitability of the produce department. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Produce Manager in ordering and receiving produce, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and managing department profitability.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized produce department, including rotating and culling produce as needed.
  • Assist with training and monitoring department personnel, ensuring they meet company standards.
  • Conduct active and passive demos, promoting products and services to customers.
  • Perform register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, and addressing customer complaints.
  • Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in grocery, retail, or produce environment preferred.
  • Ability to pass food safety training courses and maintain compliance.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on providing a positive shopping experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
