Responsibilities:The Creative Music Therapy Specialist leads programs that utilize music-based therapeutic techniques to help clients explore their emotions, enhance their emotional well-being, and develop problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director or designated personnel to identify and integrate music activities tailored for clients.
- Engage with the therapeutic environment and encourage active participation in sessions.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions as assigned.
- Demonstrate therapeutic practices and techniques while ensuring client safety.
- Facilitate both passive listening and interactive programs that involve playing, singing, and creating music.
- Design musical interventions aligned with therapeutic objectives to enhance psychological, physical, and social health.
- Assess clients visually during musical interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of sessions.
- Communicate with clinicians and direct care staff as necessary.
- Provide weekly progress updates to the treatment team as required.
- Complete documentation promptly and in accordance with established standards.
- Support the residential milieu for clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in music therapy is required.
- Master's degree in clinical, expressive arts, music therapy, or a related field is preferred.
- Board registered (APC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT) or licensed in the state where services are provided is preferred.
- CBMT credentialed as Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) is preferred; pursuing credential is required.
- Experience working with young adults and adolescents in a behavioral health setting is essential.
