Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Management professional to join our team at JD Finish Line. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of daily store operations, including customer service, sales, and personnel development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Store Management in daily shift management, including customer relations, inventory control, and visual merchandising.
  • Train and coach store associates to promote and execute team, store, and company performance.
  • Partner with management in planning, implementing, and executing change in regards to company initiatives.
  • Supervise shipments, deliveries, and transfers of merchandise to ensure accurate inventory results.
  • Seek to understand customer needs and wants to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Provide constructive feedback and facilitate conflict to ensure team growth and collaboration.
  • Maintain individual and shift sales, and provide daily shift floor coverage.
  • Demonstrate sound understanding and judgment of store priorities, and a high business acumen.
  • Embrace accountability and set attainable goals for store sales, metrics, and personnel development.
  • Accountable for key decision making to influence change, sales, and customer service.
  • Provide security and loss prevention in store to minimize company shrink.
  • Uphold company policies, procedures, and standards regarding personal and store sales/performance metrics.
  • Assist management with recruiting and interviewing potential employees.
  • Accountable for opening and closing store procedures, including cash reconciliation, banking, reporting, and security.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; 2+ years' experience in retail leadership strongly preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication skills, including spoken, written, electronic, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be at least 18 years or older.
Physical Demands
  • Requires standing approximately five to 14 hours per day.
  • During peak sale periods, will work for long periods throughout a one to 12 hour day.
  • Requires stooping and kneeling to place merchandise on customer's feet, and reaching and pulling to obtain or stock merchandise on storage racks.
  • May be required to climb ladder or ascend/descend stairs to stock and/or acquire merchandise for sale.
  • Required to lift items weighing 5 – 25 lbs regularly.
  • Must have good vision, including color differentiation.
