Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Customer Service Representative to join our team at Transplace. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing international transportation shipments from door to door, encompassing all aspects of the shipment cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Account management of international transportation shipments, including receiving orders, creating shipments, booking, tracking, and billing.
  • International transportation involves multi-modes (air, ocean, rail) for both exports and imports.
  • Communicate service issues to customers or management.
  • Coordinate service requirements and standards to vendors and supply chain partners.
  • Manually enter shipment orders and enter shipment status information.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned segments of business.
  • Maintain international customer profiles and relevant customer information.
  • Analyze customer data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Cross-train on other job positions within the international team.
  • Assist in all other areas of operations as directed.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply information relating to shipment status, pickup, and delivery appointments.
  • Ability to positively respond to and interact with other company personnel, customers, and vendors in daily operations.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision, specifically, the ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to complete assignments effectively.
  • Intermediate computer operations, including basic programming, relational databases, and operating systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Advanced communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and/or employees.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Intermediate math skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and currency exchange.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • The ability to affect cost-effective transportation logistics solutions with mode selections, route planning, equipment types, government regulations, etc.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to recognize the needs of the customer and effectively address those needs through active solutions or communication of the need to the appropriate personnel.
