Position Overview: Budget Analyst II

The Budget Analyst II plays a vital role in the financial management of the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine by reviewing budget proposals for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures and regulations. This position involves analyzing budgetary and financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare, review, or analyze financial records and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards.
  2. Provide management with financial insights regarding assigned units.
  3. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, generating periodic reports that compare budgeted figures with actual results.
  4. Interpret budget guidelines and ensure adherence.
  5. Classify, record, and summarize financial data to maintain accurate financial records using journals, ledgers, or computer systems.
  6. Prepare purchase orders, check requests, expense reports, journal entries, and budget reallocations.
  7. Compile budget data and documentation based on projected revenues and expenditures and historical budgets.
  8. Review operational budgets to identify trends impacting budget requirements and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  9. Analyze monthly departmental budgeting and accounting reports to uphold expenditure controls.
  10. Offer guidance and technical support in cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget formulation.
  11. Summarize budgets and present recommendations for the approval or denial of funding requests.
  12. Execute accounting functions related to grants and contracts, including assisting in budget development, approving expenditures, preparing invoices, and ensuring compliance with sponsor policies.
  13. Seek innovative ways to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
  14. Coordinate training initiatives for faculty and staff on financial systems, including preparing materials, conducting training sessions, and developing tutorials.
  15. Complete special projects as assigned.
  16. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in an academic environment.
