Job Overview:

Summary: The Mortgage Financing Specialist is responsible for assessing, evaluating, and either approving or recommending the approval of customer applications for first mortgage real estate loans, home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), and closed-end second mortgages through a series of defined responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

The following are essential duties and responsibilities. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:

  1. Review, process, finalize, and manage loan applications.
  2. Conduct interviews with applicants to gather necessary information for loan submissions.
  3. Evaluate the financial status, credit history, and property assessments of applicants to determine the viability of loan approval or refer the application to a credit analyst for further verification and recommendation.
  4. Communicate with applicants or creditors to clarify any questions regarding application details.
  5. For internal loans, submit approval requests to the Senior Loan Committee or Senior Management based on the loan amount.
  6. Ensure that loan agreements are thorough and comply with company policies.
  7. Collaborate with underwriters to resolve any issues related to mortgage applications.
  8. Analyze potential loan markets to identify prospects for new loans.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

To perform this role effectively, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; one to three months of related experience or training; or a combination of education and experience. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence; capable of writing basic correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to interpret numerical data.
  • Reasoning Ability: Capable of applying common sense to follow instructions and address problems with multiple variables.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software is essential.

Additional Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills and sales abilities are essential for success in this position.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role require the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Comments: The role necessitates the ability to build long-lasting relationships that benefit both the loan officer and the organization. Some travel may be required for conferences and industry-related events, and the ability to work outside of standard business hours for community engagements and client meetings is essential.
