Position Overview:

Role Summary:
The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing comprehensive estimates for projects based on design documents and specifications, particularly focusing on Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage (LV) systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively communicate electrical estimates and scopes of work to internal teams, architects, engineers, and clients.
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and analyses for Electrical, Technology, and LV systems from conceptual design through to finalized construction documents.
  • Evaluate existing site conditions and contract documents to identify necessary scope not explicitly indicated.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local suppliers and vendors to obtain accurate pricing for materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with local trade partners to build a robust list of qualified bidders for upcoming projects.
  • Perform constructability analyses and communicate any design issues to the project team.
  • Engage in first cost and life cycle analyses with the design team.
  • Work closely with Operations and fellow estimators to address General Conditions and Requirements in estimates.
  • Coordinate equipment pricing with logistics for accurate estimates.
  • Conduct value analysis to identify cost-effective alternatives for proposed systems.
  • Act as a liaison among engineers, design consultants, trade partners, and Turner staff to resolve cost-efficient issues.
  • Prepare and compile estimates and proposals for various contract types.
  • Participate in estimate reviews with the design team and clients.
  • Facilitate the hand-off process to Operations, ensuring a smooth transition of knowledge.
  • Assist in evaluating subcontractor proposals and managing scope risks.
  • Support project staff in assessing large change orders.
  • Maintain a historical cost database and utilize estimating tools effectively.
  • May supervise junior estimators and interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of estimating experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage Systems.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents and project schedules for comprehensive cost analysis.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new technologies.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to sit, use hands for various tasks, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:
Employees may work in an office setting and occasionally at construction sites, where they may encounter varying noise levels and environmental conditions.
