Core Responsibilities:
Assist in the administration of anesthesia under the direct oversight of an anesthesiologist.
Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies for procedures.
Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and assist in reviewing patient medical histories.
Support the development and implementation of tailored anesthesia care plans for patients.
Monitor patients throughout the anesthesia process to ensure their safety and comfort.
Assist with postoperative care and manage anesthesia-related tasks as directed.
Maintain accurate documentation of anesthesia procedures and patient status.
Essential Duties:
Patient Preparation: Assist in preparing patients for anesthesia, including initiating IVs and applying monitoring devices.
Anesthesia Assistance: Support the administration of various types of anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
Patient Monitoring: Continuously observe patient vitals and assist in adjusting anesthesia levels as required.
Emergency Preparedness: Be ready to respond to anesthesia-related emergencies or complications swiftly.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
Training and Development: Engage in training and educational programs to remain current on best practices in anesthesia care.
Qualifications:
Certification: Must be certified as an Anesthesia Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
Licensure: Hold an active Anesthesia Assistant license in the state of practice.
Education: Graduate from an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program.
Experience: Previous clinical experience in anesthesia support is preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in anesthesia techniques, patient assessment, and operation of anesthesia equipment.
